Professional esports tournaments 2022 – Schedules, prizes, and where to watch

Looking for all the hot esports action that is happening at the beginning of calendar year 2022? We are going to cover three leagues with some events kicking off in February, so whether you’re a player who is looking for some tips and tricks or someone who just enjoys watching people play video games, these are the top tournaments and pro leagues you should keep your eyes peeled for.

VCT Stages

VALORANT is a first person tactical shooter developed and published by Riot Games. Tactical shooters involve rounds of two teams going against each other. One team is attacking and one team is defending and each player only has one life per round. The rounds are won by either killing the entire enemy team or completing the objective or either attacking or defending and professional competition is a best of 25 rounds or first to win 13 rounds.

This league is called VALORANT Challengers and one of their events is starting the weekend of February11th and goes through the month of March.12 teams from North America will participate in a 4 week competition where each team will play one match over the weekend. The winners will punch their ticket to the VCT Stage 1 – Masters.

Apex Legends Global

Next we will be talking about the Apex Legends, a first person shooter battle royale developed by Respawn Entertainment and published by Electronic Arts. 20 teams of 3 are all dropped on an island where they must scavenge for weapons, armour and support items. The map gets smaller over time forcing the teams the collide and fight. The last team standing is the winner.

The league for this game is called the Apex Legends Global Series (ALGS) and it is a tournament style series where they run several events over the year called splits. Each split is its own event with its own prize pool. The production value that is put into even is pretty incredible and they give you the ability to follow the specific views of the individual players. So if you are someone who is looking to see how the pros are playing a certain hero this is great place to learn so tips and tricks.

Hearthstone Masters Tour

Coming up next is Hearthstone digital trading card game developed and published by Blizzard Entertainment. Trading card games are typically 1v1 and each player builds a deck of a 30 cards with a plethora of different builds and strategies available to each player. The players pull cards and play the different types to try and take the opponents health to zero. The different combos and strategies the players implement as well as their ability to adapt on the fly is what makes these tournaments so entertaining.

Hearthstone has a couple different tournament types but the one that will be ongoing throughout the year is called the Masters Tour which is six events that lead into two championships. It will be three events per championship with the first event starting February 18th-20th. Tune in to learn the best deck builds and support your favorite players.
