Middle Lane Akali Build, Runes, and Guide – Wild Rift

Akali is an extremely strong champion in Wild Rift that’s on top of many tier lists and can carry games in the right hands. She’s a slippery assassin that has everything you want in a kit – dashes, AOE damage, invisibility, and a bit of slow. While Akali is incredibly difficult to truly master, she’s loads of fun to play. Akali can also be played solo in the Baron (or top) lane.

Middle Lane Akali Guide

Akali Runes

  • Conqueror or Electrocute
    • This is really user preference. Conqueror allows you to stack some damage, but Electrocute is also a solid choice. Electrocute provides higher burst damage in the early game and can help you snowball, but falls off mid to late game.
  • Triumph
    • Gives a damage boost on low health enemies which works well with your 2nd phase ultimate multiplier. It also gives a bit of health regeneration after killing champions, which can come in clutch since you’ll often dive the back lane to target squishy champions.
  • Titan
    • Provides crowd control (CC) resistance.
  • Sweet Tooth
    • Offers more healing from fruits and provides some extra gold.

Akali Spells

  • Flash
    • A must have on most of the champions in the game. Gets you out of sticky situations or gets you closer to burst down target an enemy.
  • Ignite
    • Helps burst down the enemy. Works well with your kit to provide extra damage.

Item Build Path

  • Hextech Gunblade
    • A core item for Akali and the first one you should be buying. This item was practically made for this champion. It gives both physical and magic vamp (Akali can do both). The passive also slows enemies by 40% and deals damage, adding another burst of damage to her kit.
  • Infinity Orb
    • Another item that works well with all of Akali’s skills, especially her 2nd phase ultimate. The flat magic penetration it offers lets you deal more damage to enemies.
  • Ionian Boots
    • Needed for extra cool down reduction (CDR) since the other items in her build don’t offer any.
  • Morellonomicon
    • If you’re facing enemies with a lot of healing you can’t burst down, prioritize this. If not, you can get this item later on.
  • Void Staff
    • The magic penetration offers more damage and helps against tanks that are stacking magic resistance (MR).
  • Rabadon’s Deathcap
    • Deathcap increases your Ability Power by 40%, so this item works well with every other AP item you have to increase your damage.
  • Stasis
    • Offers for some survivabilty for when you dive into the back line. Also very effective when facing someone like Zed or Fizz that have ultimates that deal damage after a few seconds.

Akali Abilities

  • PassiveAssassin’s Mark – Dealing spell damage to a champion creates a ring of energy around them. Exiting that ring empowers Akali’s next auto attack with bonus range and damage..
  • Five Point Strike (1) – Akali throws out five kunai, dealing damage based on her bonus Attack Damage and Ability Power and slowing at maximum range.
  • Twilight Shroud (2) – Akali drops a cover of smoke and briefly gains Movement Speed and restores Energy. While inside the shroud, Akali becomes invisible. Attacking or using abilities will briefly reveal her.
  • Shuriken Flip (3) – Akali flips backward and fires a shuriken forward, dealing magic damage. The first enemy or smoke cloud hit is marked. Re-casting dashes to the marked target, dealing additional damage.
  • Perfect Execution (Ultimate) – Akali leaps in a direction, damaging enemies she strikes. Re-casting dashes in a direction, executing all enemies she strikes.

Skill Progression

You’ll want to start the game with a level in Five Point Strike (1) to help with your farming. You’ll then put a point into Shuriken Flip (3), which allows you to start doing some combos and dish out damage. Next, put a point into your Twilight Shroud (2). Once you have a point in all three abilities, max out your Five Point Strike (1), then your Shuriken Flip (3), and Twilight Shourd (2) last. And of course, put a point in your ultimate whenever you’re able to.

Akali Skill Combos,Tips, and Tricks

  • Try to hit the enemy with the outer range of your Five Point Strike (1) skill. This applies a slow but also lets you quickly get your attack enhance off when moving out of the ring.
  • Your Shuriken Flip (3) pushes you back a bit and can be used to help dodge enemy skill shots.
  • Shuriken Flip (3) can be used to get over some walls.
  • The second phase of Shuriken Flip (3) has no max range and can dash you over walls.
  • If you’re low on health or want to try to bait out abilities, you can activate Statis while you’re going into the enemy you hit with the second phase of Shuriken Flip (3) and still deal damage with it.
  • When using your ultimate, make sure to use its second phase last since the damage scaled based on the health the enemy is missing.
  • When doing a combo, make sure to get auto attacks off so the enhanced basic attacks from your passive.
  • In team fights, you objective will also be to get to the back line and kill the squishy champions. You can use the first dash of your ultimate on a front line enemy to help close the gap on squishy champions.
    • When doing this, try to cast your Shuriken Flip (3) on the front line tank after you use the first ultimate cast so you can reactivate it and get out of the fight after taking down the back line.
